George and Sally Andersson, cruise captains

All captains interested in participating, please notify the cruise captain so we may plan accordingly.
The cruise captain will pick a latitude and longitude where all boats will meet.
We will stay in communication by radio and sail within sight of each other. I want to have a flotilla instead of solo sails.
Following the sail, we will meet at SouthPort Marina in Kenosha for a cookout.
Boaters from other marinas: Please join us in Kenosha once your boat is secured.

NWSA will also celebrate the event out of several Chicago Lake Michigan harbors organized by Larry Makowski and Lake Mendota, Madison, WI with Joe Rittner as cruise captain.

2019 Sailing Schedule Bill Fetter
Booked: 10 | Free Seats: 90

Join us for a fun sail out of Kenosha Harbor.  The sail will take place on June 29th, 2019 with a rendevous time of 9 AM.  Rendevous will be 1/2 mile east of the Kenosha channel mouth.  Depending on the wind, I thought we could sail up around the Racine Reef and back.  This should take between 4 and 6 hours.  After the sail, we can all meet up for dinner.  As people sign up I will look at places within walking distance.

July 13, the start of the 111th Chicago to Mackinac race will see over 300 boats depart for the 333 mile run to Mackinac Island in northern Lake Michigan. The Chicago Yacht Club race to Mackinac is the longest annual fresh water race in the world and challenges all levels of sailors from around the world.

NWSA boats will be heading out of multiple Chicago harbors to watch the start of the race. Several of our members have crewed in this event over the years and a few of our current members will be in the race this year.

Bring your cameras (and telephoto lenses) for some of the best and most competitive racing in our area. There may be multiple locations for dinner afterwards. We’ll depart around 10AM and return by 4PM. If you have the time, please take a stroll along the docks at Monroe St. harbor on Friday to get a close up look at some of the boats and talk to the crew and skippers. Jul 25-28 2019 - Door County Sail

2019 Sailing Schedule Asayo Horibe
Booked: 1 | Free Seats: 11

Door County Sail 2018 Thursday, July 25th to Sunday, July 28th Join us for 4 days of relaxation with sailing, dining and very special communion with members of the Northwest Sailing Association.

Cruise Captain: Asayo Horibe

We will gather at the back porch behind the bar at the Alpine Resort. It is right on the shores of Green Bay. We will meet and greet each other enjoying pizza, salad, drinks and great company. It is planned as a long weekend of getting to know each other better, sharing the love of sailing and learning to hone our skills as we venture on onto the waters of Green Bay.

Events are not carved in stone. We may even take the ferry to Washington Island. There many things to do in this Door County peninsula in Wisconsin. We like to dine at the Log Den, which is about 3 miles from Egg Harbor or have breakfast at other places in Egg Harbor or Fish Creek. Our meeting place, Egg Harbor, is about a six hour drive north into Wisconsin and about a 3 to 4 day sail from the lower Lake Michigan harbors.

Skippers may be looking for crew to sail up and trailer sailors will be looking for carpooling companions on the drive north. As cruise captain, I will try to accommodate sailors who would like to carpool. Please make reservations at the Alpine Lodge (1-888-281 8128), mention the NWSA and call the harbor master at the Egg Harbor Marina or Fish Creek to get a slip.

Please feel free to call me if you have any questions or ideas to make it a more fun weekend. It’s the last weekend in July. I will sacrifice a few chickens so we will have fair winds and a balmy relaxing time. I will have an itinerary at the front desk at the Alpine. Just identify yourself as part of the NWSA.

Please feel free to contact me: Cell (224-623-1304) or Home (847-869-5809 if you have any questions.
